December 21st……….“WHEN YOU WERE A LITTLE BOY, ON YOUR FARM IN MINNESOTA, WHAT WAS A CHRISTMAS TOY YOU YEARNED FOR BUT NEVER RECEIVED”???
POEM – “To Imbrue The View” by N. Elliott Noorlun.
Christmas flew right by, For this little guy,
Santa’s bag just couldn’t quite hold,
A “View-Master” toy, For this farm boy,
That could bring great joys untold.
In the days after Christmas, Dad pointed our car,
To take us to Albert Lea,
To visit our cousins, And experience their toys,
Oh their “View-Master” filled me with glee!!
While our parents drank coffee, That smelled so fair,
With that beaned aroma, That filled the air,
I’d be cuddled near window, To get lots of light,
Then insert a pic reel, Filled with wonders of sight!
There was breathtaking scenery, And Disney, too,
As I clicked forward each reel, To bring them in view.
Their colors were vibrant, Each storyline great,
Such a childhood epiphany, I just couldn’t wait.
My cousins were patient, There in Albert Lea,
As they shared their “View-Master”, With little boy me.
Heck, even adults, Enjoyed seeing us thrive,
With “View-Master” journeys, Those pics came alive!!! 😉

Hello! I saw your link on the BG FB page… and enjoyed your choir and View Master stories.
The music continues! My son plays in the BGHS Advanced Jazz Band. They have an excellent teacher, Mr. Greg McKelvey, whom the students adore. There will be a concert at the Baptist Church, in February, that you and family may enjoy.
My mom grew up in Faribault, MN! I mostly visited in the summers, but did go after Christmas one year. Will you be enjoying Lutefisk this year? 😁

Merry Christmas Gayle!!! It’s so very wunnerful to hear from you!!!
Your musical invitation for February is very kind. Since 2010, I’ve lived in Hawaii, so it is not likely I’ll be able to attend. Hoping to come home to the Northwest in July or early August for my 50th Battle Ground High School reunion. ;o)
How grand that your dear mother is from my neck of the woods! I was born in Blue Earth, MN and have only been to the town of Faribault once in those young years.
To be honest, I have never tried lutefisk before. Will have to get brave and do so someday! ;o)
Thanks so much for visiting my blog!!! Really lifts my spirits!! >
