August 20th……….“WHAT ARE SOME SIMPLE FARM PLEASURES THAT MADE FOR LOTS OF FUN IN THOSE DAYS ON OUR FARM NEAR KIESTER, MINNESOTA”??
POEM – “Fun Times On The Farm” by N. Elliott Noorlun. Created October 30th, 2015
Fun times on the farm,
In Dad’s jalopy,
With chains on the tires,
When it got sloppy!!
A chopped up version of an old Ford Model A provides a rollicking fun time for Elliott’s father, Russell, along with big sister Rosemary, big brother, Lowell, and one of their cousins. π
Or riding big wagon,
Through our farm yard,
It sure was bumpy,
Cause them wheels were HARD!!
Elliott’s father, Russell, enjoys a glass of milk and something to eat while he gives big sister, Rosemary, a ride in their farm wagon near Kiester, Minnesota. Early 1950’s.
I may be only one oat seed in a field of millions, yet I have a story to share of beginnings on our beloved farm in southern Minnesota and beyond to life as I've seen it to this point. Famous? No. Gifted? Unlikely. Yet, I want to leave a legacy to my children and grandchildren of who this gentle Norwegian man was. My happy times, sad times, successes and failures. Someday, those who are tiny now, will have this volume to come to and get to know this Norwegian Farmer's Son.
