Norwegian Farmer’s Son…December 10th

December 10th…“MUSING UPON THE PAST, WHAT IMPRESSED YOU ABOUT YOUR PARENT’S WAY OF DOING BUSINESS IN YOUR HOMETOWN OF KIESTER, MINNESOTA?”

POEM – “A Good Man’s Word” (speaking of our father, Russell Conrad Noorlun and our dear mother, Clarice, too, of course.)  by N. Elliott Noorlun

#361=Clarice&Russ N., Palm Sunday; April 6, 1952
Elliott’s parents…Clarice & Russell Noorlun.  This was Palm Sunday April 6th, 1952.

Oh for the days, When a good man’s word,

Was the only thing, That need be heard.

Just the good, honest name of my father on a check.  By his honor, he paid any and all obligations

When honesty, Was the path he’d trek,

T’was only his name, On his good check.

Folks lived by the Golden Rule and God’s Word in our town.

No need for ton, Of information,

That’s common now, In our sad nation.

Back then, There in our quaint small town,

The way you lived, Became your crown.

Like gears working together.

Banker, Grocer, Hardware man,

Could trust you that, You had a plan,

To carry out, Just what you’d say,

For that was the honest, farmer’s way!

Elliott’s father, Russell, could enjoy the smile of being a godly and honest man in his daily life on their farm.
